The Emirate of Ajman
is situated on the coast of the Arabian Gulf,extending over a distance of 16 km,between the emirates of Umm Al-Quwain and Sharjah. The area of the emirate is 259 square kilometers, equivalent to 0.3% of the country's total area, excluding the islands.

The population was estimated to be 80,000 in 1992. The town of Ajman,the capital of the emirate, lies on the coast of the Arabian Gulf. lt comprises the Ruler's office, companies, banks and commercial markets. The port of Ajman is located along a natural creek which penetrates the town.The two major regions in the emirate are Masfout, an agricultural area, lying at a distance of 110 km long at the South east, and Manama located 60 to the east.

Ajman has been transformed into an Emirate with modern facilities and amenities. The emirates is also well connected with the rest of the U.A.E. by modern highways and road networks. Yet the traditional way of life has been preserved forming with the modern living environment a pleasant blend of the old and the new and the simple and sophisticated.

The beautiful beaches of Ajman and the cleaner and less commercialised seashores offfer excellent facilities for swimmers and beach lovers. For bargain hunters, it is worth a visit to Ajman souk, which is also renowed for it's architectural splendor.

The U.A.E. is proud of their culture, heritage and history which form the foundation of the country's present prosperity. The fortress in Ajman built way back in the 18th century is a symbol that reflects this rich heritage.

Some of the regions such as Masfoot and Manama are rich in agriculture and farming. Masfoot is surrounded by mountainsin all direction which provide scenic backdrop to this region.

The fortress was restored and now houses the famous Ajman Museum. It's prized possessions includethe treasures of former rulers, monuments, conventional industry, presentation of social life style and the traditional profession of the past.
